HE"S THE LORD!
I'd like to turn Bob Dylan onto the Roman philosopher Lucretius, an Epicurean and author of De Rerum Naturum. Thomas Jefferson owned 5 copies of that book, which was originally written in verse. You can get it from Borders. I discovered Lucretius by reading Peter g*y's two-volume book on the Enlightenment, which you can get from abebooks.com. Volume 1 is particularly interesting. Anyway, I've been a Dylan fan since I was about 14. Thanks for everything!
i LOVE bob! i wish i could give him a hug (:
Bob Rocks! I am Going to his Modern Times Concert!
hi my name is kevin and i have listening to bob since i was 8 hes songes have helped me throu a lot he is my idol
Well, i first saw Bob in Tasmania in the early ninties, not his concert(i couldnt afford a ticket and probably would have spent the money on something like food if i could have afforded it) but i was getting some low budget joy in the form of a scenic lookout located at the top of the then sheridan hotel in hobart, and as i stepped out of the elevator on the ground floor, i imediately felt scrutinized and scaned around in a 180 degree fashion and my eyes fell on Bob, sitting on a couch and he was rocking back and forth and he was looking at me from a 15 metre distance. My imediate thought impression before i realised it was him, was that he needed a cup of tea, or something, actually the word 'thirsty, and anxious' came to mind, and as recognition kicked in, i paid it no mind cause even if i could of i doubt i would have been allowed to be of *ssistance so i quickly caught up with my two male companions, that i might not miss my ride. Now i had never been a bob fan, always felt that he had an out of tune voice, but probably not uncoincidentaly, about two days later i met this fellow who loved Bob's music and as we ended up hanging together for a few years i got to know the songs of bob rather well. Now i love his stuff cause it hits a chord on a level i cant explain, and my son who is now 17 loves him as well.I cant discuss his stuff in an intellectual way and i cant describe it as beautiful, i cant even say i understand exactly what he means in his lyrics and yet i feel a connection with it, particularly "Ballad of a thin man" and "changing of the guard".I think he is a man who has been guided by some sort of divinity and i wonder if he even understands the course his life took.If i have learnt anything from master bob, i guess it is to be true to yourself.I often wonder about the bob phenomenom and wish someone could explain it to me, why do we love him so, so many different generations drawn to, in awe of, is it the openness of his heart or what?Did Jesus rock back and forth or Ghandi, they were reluctant messiahs, well maybe not Ghandi, but he was a good bloke just the same.Anyway since i first saw Bob on that couch i can honestly say he has, through his music had a profound impact on the rest of my life and that has got to account for something cause i know i am not the only one.He must be a magician of some sort.It will be a sad, sad, day, when the Bob light goes out in this world, but if he ever gets to read this, i just want to say thanks, it has been a pleasure, and when you do p*ss if i havnt first, i will have a sherbert in your honour and that day with be a mourn bob party in my home and a small shrine will be erected and you will have achieved demi god status simply as an acknowledgement of the divine that does dwell in us all, but particularly in you.Cheers, BB MP.
